Texas Parent Taught Driver Education
New Texas drivers under the age of 18 must complete an approved driver education course before they receive a driver's license. Teens are allowed to complete driver's education through our Texas Parent-Taught Drivers Education program if they are between the ages of 14 and 17. With this particular program, parents instruct their teenagers using a self-guided curriculum online. While taking this informative and easy-to-follow course, the student will learn Texas specific regulations, laws and driving techniques. Acquiring this knowledge is the first step in becoming a defensive driver. Although teens are allowed to start their driver's education course at the age of 14, they can not obtain a learner's permit until they are at least 15 years old. To register as a parent taught trainer through the state of Texas, you must fill out this request form and send a $20 application fee to the address on the form. Please refer to the parent instructor qualifications before requesting for a Texas Parent-Taught Drivers Ed program. After completing the Texas Parent-Taught Drivers Education program with Texas Teen Driver's Education, the student will take the Instruction Permit test at the Driver License Office. This is what you will need to bring with you:
