Graduated Drivers License

When participating in the Texas parent taught driver education, the parent instructor has the choice to either waive the driving test or require the student to pass the driving test administered by Department of Public Safety before issuing a Class C driver’s license.

About The Texas Graduated Driver License (GDL) and Provisional License:
During the six-month period following the issuance of an original Class A, B, or C, drivers under the age of 18 have restricted driving privileges.

Drivers are allowed to operate a motor vehicle accompanied by one passenger under the age of 21 (Family members do not apply).

Unless driving to work, a school activity, or because of a medical emergency, drivers may not operate an automobile between midnight and 5:00 a.m.

Senate Bill 1257 -If you are driving with an instruction permit or a provisional license, you are not allowed to operate a motor vehicle while using a wireless communications device. This bill applies to teen drivers 18 years of age or younger.

After this six-month period, time and passenger restrictions are no longer valid.
