Texas Driver License Instruction Permit
How do I get my Texas Instruction Permit?
In order to obtain a Texas Driver License Instruction permit, you must take a written test, vision examination and pay the neccessary DPS fees. The written portion consists of 30 multiple-choice questions and you will have to score above 70% in order to pass. What to do after you get your Texas Driver License Instruction Permit? Once you have finished the Texas teen drivers education course and passed your learner's permit test, you will be ready to get on the road and practice everything you have just learned. The behind-the-wheel training evokes feelings of excitement and intimidation in many teens. These feelings are natural, but there is no reason to be nervous. Our driver's education course readily prepares teens for behind-the-wheel training. Behind-the-wheel instruction can not begin until the student has been issued a Texas Driver License Instruction Permit. Furthermore, any behind-the-wheel instruction given before the student has been issued an official Instruction Permit will not be applied toward the required instruction or practice time. Students are required to complete 14 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction supervised by a parent-taught driver. We recommend that a beginning driver practices driving with their instructor until both the student and the instructor feel as though the student is ready to drive on his or her own. The time spent teaching Behind-the-Wheel Instruction, as well as classroom Instruction, should be kept in a log by the instructor. In this log, record the date of achievement of each classroom module. Behind-the-wheel instruction time should also be recorded. When participating in the Texas Parent Taught Driver Education Program, you may be required to submit the log as proof you have finished all of the objectives. Behind-the-wheel sessions require coaching by the instructor while the student is operating the vehicle. Behind-the-wheel instruction time should not be logged if the student is simply observing the instructor or receiving mechanical demonstrations. The instructor must be in the vehicle with the student while behind-the-wheel instruction is given. |
